PURPOSE:
To observe the parts of a typical flower!
MATERIALS NEEDED: Several varieties of flowers, forceps, dissecting scope.
PROCEDURE: MAKE ALL OF YOUR SKETCHES ON THE BACK OF THIS PAPER
- Observe the plant that your flower came from!
- Observe your flower!
- Make a life size sketch of your flower, labeling all of the parts!
- Look closely at the reproductive parts of your flower under a dissecting scope!
- Sketch what you observe! Label its parts!
- Tap some pollen from your flower onto a clean glass slide.
- Place two drops of water on the slide and cover with a cover slip
- Observe the pollen under both low and high power!
- Sketch several pollen grains under both low and high power!
- Measure the width of a pollen grain!
