Study Skills

The emphasis on study skills in the Biology Two course came as a suggestion from the 00-01 class. Their request made sense. They said: "We are being expected to do college level work with no support to develop college level study habits." Their wisdom is your benefit. We will be taking several days to investigate a variety of study techniques and hints.

I have two goals for our study skills work. First, each student will realize that there are a wide variety of techniques to accomodate the different ways that students learn. Secondly, it is up to the individual student to take a few of these tips and incorporate them into their regular study methods.

Our focus will include the following topics.

• Time management
• Study environment
• Test taking
• Memory hooks
• Note taking
• Vocabulary strategies
• Biology specific tips
• Anything else that will give us a leg up in college next fall!
