MUGAN'S CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS.
Revised July 2011.

Successful students will understand that:

  • It is okay to be RESPECTFUL of others!
    • Behavior that infringes on the rights of others will not be tolerated.
    • Listen when others are speaking
    • Be a part of a positive environment in the classroom.

  • It is okay to be IN SCHOOL.
    • Attendance is directly related to success in the classroom, period.
    • Group work, and some labs can not be made up. Once they are missed, they are missed.

  • It is okay to be PREPARED.
    • Be on time. This means:
      • BE IN YOUR SEAT BEFORE THE BELL BEGINS TO SOUND.
    • Have all needed materials. No one will return to their locker after the bell.
    • All exams must be passed, or they will be retaken until a grade of at least 60% is achieved.

  • It is okay to put forth a GOOD EFFORT in class!
    • Surrender to the opportunity and make every effort to dig deeply into our topics.
    • Be inquisitive, this is the foundation of science!

  • It is okay to take care of MAKE UP WORK quickly.
    • Each individual is responsible for making up the work they miss.
    • Students will be required to use Mugan's Biology Page to check the schedule and get assignments they have missed.

  • It is okay not to bring FOOD OR DRINKS into the classroom.
    • Water, in a clear reusable container is acceptable.
  • Do not bring disposale water bottles to room 111.

  • It is okay to volunteer to help with PLANT AND ANIMAL responsibilities.
    • See this as an opportunity for extra credit.
    • Treat plants and animals in this room with respect.

  • It is okay to understand Mugan’s TURN IN PROCEDURES.
    • Email: (Student email account names must be school appropriate.)
      • EMAIL SUBJECT HEADING Last name, First Name - Hour - Bio (EXAMPLE: Smith, Jim 5th Bio)
    • Submitting any type of document: (Emailing an attachment, or saving them to your student folder.)
      • FILE NAMES – Your last name, Your first Name, Hour, Assignment Title (Smith, Jim, 5th, Cell Review)

  • It is okay to understand the GRADING POLICY.
    • All assignments, quizzes, projects, and opportunities will be given a point value
    • Grades will be determined by the percentage of those points the student has earned.
    • The grade scale is as follows:
      A100% - 93%
      A-92% - 90%
      B+89% - 87%
      B86% - 83%
      B-82% - 80%
      C+79% - 77%
      C76% - 73%
      C-72% - 70%
      D+69% - 67%
      D66% - 63%
      D-62% - 60%
      F59% - 0%

  • It is okay to have a GREAT ATTITUDE!
    • Thoughts determine attitude. Attitude determines preparation. Preparation determines success
