MUGAN'S CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS.
Revised Aug 2004.

Successful students will understand that:

  • It is okay to be RESPECTFUL of others!
    • Behavior that infringes on the rights of others will not be tolerated.
    • Listen when others are speaking
    • Be a part of a positive environment in the classroom.

  • It is okay to be IN SCHOOL.
    • Attendance is directly related to success in the classroom, period.
    • Group work, and some labs can not be made up. Once they are missed, they are missed.

  • It is okay to be PREPARED.
    • Be on time. This means:
      • BE IN YOUR SEAT BEFORE THE BELL BEGINS TO SOUND.
    • Have all needed materials. No one will return to their locker after the bell.
    • Exams (Mugan's "opportunities") CAN NOT be retaken unless required by the students IEP.

  • It is okay to put forth a GOOD EFFORT in class!
    • Be inquisitive, this is the foundation of science!
    • Missing assignments will greatly damage grades.
      • NOTICE: I will not collect late work.

  • It is okay to take care of MAKE UP WORK quickly.
    • Each individual is responsible for making up the work they have missed.
    • The number of school days you have missed, plus one, are allowed for make up time.

  • It is okay not to bring FOOD OR DRINKS into the classroom.
    • If it is hot and uncomfortable during the fall or spring, a bottle of water will be acceptable.

  • It is okay to fulfill PLANT AND ANIMALS responsibilities.
    • Everyone will have regular responsibilities with the animals or greenhouse.
    • This will be a part of your grade.
    • Treat plants and animals in this room with respect.

  • It is okay to make full use of MUGAN'S BIOLOGY PAGE.
    • This classroom resource can be a powerful resource if it is used.
    • Class announcements, assignments, quizzes and informational links are all included.
    • We have a unique learning tool. I can not encourage its use enough.

  • It is okay to understand the GRADING POLICY.
    • All assignments, quizzes, projects, and opportunities will be given a point value
    • Grades will be determined by the percentage of those points the student has earned.
    • The grade scale is as follows:
      A100% - 96%
      A-95% - 90%
      B+89% - 87%
      B86% - 84%
      B-83% - 80%
      C+79% - 77%
      C76% - 74%
      C-73% - 70%
      D69% - 65%
      F64% - 0%

  • It is okay to have a GREAT ATTITUDE!
    • Thoughts determine attitude. Attitude determines preparation. Preparation determines success
